GLOSSY POLYMER VARNISH
This Glossy Medium can function as a glossy finish varnish and a gloss-enhancing additive to paint. When mixed with Derivan colours, it enhances the gloss and fluidity of the paint. Used as a final varnish, it generates a robust, transparent, tack-free, protective layer.
APPLICATION Given the quick-drying nature of acrylics, it's crucial to apply the varnish pre-diluted with water (as instructed on the labels). Using Polymer Gloss Varnish in thick coats on a hot day could trap moisture, leading to a hazy film that could be challenging to fix. All Derivan painting mediums can be freely mixed together - Polymer Gloss Varnish can be combined with Spreader Medium to achieve a glossy glazed effect (however, refrain from mixing turpentine varnishes with other mediums). It's advisable for artists to carefully pre-determine their choice of mediums to avoid undesired outcomes.
ADDITIONAL DETAILS Artworks treated with Polymer Gloss will resemble pieces created with oil paints or shiny enamel. Polymer Gloss Varnish can be easily mixed with Derivan Acrylic. Though water-based and potentially appearing slightly milky when wet, this light refraction effect is caused by acrylic particles suspended within the water-based film. This appearance vanishes once the film is dry.
